Despite weaker-than-expected jobs growth, the unemployment rate has dropped to 5.4 per cent — its lowest rate since November last year.
The unemployment rate fell from 5.6 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms over the month and the ranks of the unemployed thinned by 26,800 to 714,600.
However, that result was achieved despite a loss of full-time jobs.
Full-time employment fell by 20,600, while part-time work increased 32,600.
More to come.
